coraline was relased in 2009 and was produced by laika studios. it is a stop movie horror film based on the book under the same name that was published in 2002.

the film is about coraline jones moving into a new house with her parents and she meets a boy called "wybie" who gives her a button-eyed doll that looks exactly like her. she finds a door, leading to a parallel universe where it seems that her life is perfect. her mother with button eyes makes delicous food and gives her everything she could asks for. the alternate universe seems like a dream come true. the other mother ( the beldam) offers her a chance to stay there forever, but she has to sew buttons into coralines eyes. coraline denies and tries to go back to the other universe but is trapped in a room behind a mirror where the ghosts of the beldams past victims are. coraline realizes that her parents have been kidnapped and goes back to the other universe to find her parents and help the souls of the missing kids. she finds the souls essense and reunites with her parents.

this film has always been my favorite and i used to not be able to go a week without watching it. i remember being sick and staying home from school, watching this movie while i struggled to breathe beause of my clogged nose ( be thankful right now that you dont have to deal with that issue ( unless you do, in that case, sorry) .

my favorite scene in the movie is when she's meeting wybie for the first time. im convinced this scene has had a permnant impact on my brain. i love this scene because it's a perfect way to introduce how coraline behaves around others and it shows her curiosity for the things around her. wybie telling her that the dowsing rod she's holding is posion oak and that she's standing right over well shows that she shouldn't always trust her first assumption about things.

IN CONCLUSION coraline is my favorite movie, ever. the stop motion, the music, the character design, the writing, ect.. everything about this movie is just so incredibly important to me and i probably have the whole script memorized by how many times i've watched it.
